Robotics Australia Group CEO Paul Mason has joined the CEOs of the Tech Council of Australia, FinTech Australia, AusBiotech, EduGrowth, Aussie Angels, Climate Salad, the Medical Technology Association of Australia, EnergyLab, the Australian Agritech Association, Stone & Chalk and Startmate in a joint letter to Treasurer Jim Chalmers, dated 10 July 2026.
The letter responds to the proposed Innovative Business CGT Concession, part of the Treasury Laws Amendment (Tax Reform No. 1) Bill 2026. While supportive of the reform's intent, the signatories argue the concession as drafted would leave Australia less competitive for startup capital and talent, and call for a broader lifetime gains cap, a higher revenue ceiling, recognition of long commercialisation pathways, a workable innovation test, and protection for existing investors.
The letter was reported by the Australian Financial Review on 12 July 2026.
