One measure of Australia’s capability in robotics and AI can be seen in the Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s recently released critical technology tracker website https://www.aspi.org.au/report/critical-technology-tracker. While the data relies heavily on citations, and there is a question over how much such metrics can be gamed, it still provide an interesting perspective. For example, it suggests we rank 7th in the world in advanced robotics and that we are reasonably successful at attracting talent, for now. Good news!
