Robotics Australia Group congratulates WA Government on its visionary approach to COVID-19 recovery
Australia’s peak body for the robotics industry, Robotics Australia Group (RAG) has today congratulated the McGowan Government on its progressive and forward-thinking approach to COVID-19 recovery.
As part of a broad suite of measures, the Western Australian Government yesterday announced $20 million in funding support for a Robotics and Automation physical test facility, as part of a 94-hectare precinct north of the current Neerabup industrial estate.
RAG Chair Dr Sue Keay acknowledged the vision of the Government in identifying the growth opportunity that the robotics and automation industry can create for Western Australia and the nation.
“The future of the robotics industry is very promising and we strongly support and commend the McGowan Government for their vision,” Dr Keay said.
“Australian robotics is at the precipice of exponential growth and this is a fantastic opportunity for Western Australia to lead that growth and create jobs and regional economic development.
“RAG looks forward to working in collaboration with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation and with other industry associations to bring this project to fruition.
“As the national peak body, we are committed to creating new export opportunities for Australian-developed technologies; driving new employment opportunities; creating high- value global skills and capabilities; encouraging onshore investment and talent retention; and promoting competitive technological sovereign capability.
“We also see the opportunity to capitalise on our nation’s collective knowledge and skills to support the strength and competitiveness of all of our national industries including mining, energy, agriculture, defence, manufacturing, construction and avionics.
“This opportunity will lead the nation and we again commend the Government on their foresight,” Dr Keay said.
